Gianfranco D’Attis Prada’s New CEO confirmed the announcement came earlier yesterday. This is after last week’s announcement of Miuccia Prada and Patrizio Bertelli stepping down, to transition control the next generation.

Miuccoa Prada (Mario Prada’s niece) is a fashion designer and entrepreneur. Patrizio Bertelli, is also an entrepreneur, as well as the ninth richest man in Italy according to Forbes. Both of them alongside each other guided and transformed Prada into one of the most famous fashion houses on the international market.

Miuccia Prada and Patrizio BertelliWhile they are stepping down as co-chiefs, but will remain as chairmen of the board in the company. However, Mrs. Prada will also remain creative director of Miu Miu and co-creative director of Prada (alongside Raf Simons).
The moves come as Bertelli, aged 76, and Mrs Prada, 73, prepare to pass control of the company to the family’s next generation. Their son Lorenzo Bertelli, aged 34, joined the company in late 2017 and has taken on key responsibilities managing the group’s marketing, digital communications and sustainability efforts. At an investor day in November 2021, Bertelli signalled that the family’s plan for Lorenzo to eventually take the reins of the company could go into effect within a few years.

Prada Group has hired Gianfranco D’Attis, to lead its flagship Prada brand. As chief executive of Prada, D’Attis will report to new group CEO Andrea Guerra. This move becomes effective from January 2nd 2023. Gianfranco D’Attis, most recently Americas CEO for LVMH’s Christian Dior Couture division.
In this role, D’Attis will be in charge of the strategic development of the brand in every market. In a statement, Prada Group said:
“His proven experience in the luxury sector, with a specific focus on retail, will help the brand to increase its growth potential in all geographies.”
The appointment is part of a succession plan to “ease” Lorenzo Bertelli, Miuccia Prada and
Patrizio Bertelli’s son and heir, into the role of CEO.
