OVH down: 22 days after the fire sites are still down
OVH down: 22 days after the fire, sites are still down. Unbelievable!
As you all know by now, during the night between March 8 and 9, the OVH datacentre based in Strasbourg was hit by a fire. Today, 22 days after the event, only a few companies affected by the disruption have recovered access to their sites. Many others have lost their data altogether, and even more serious have no news from OVH. Many websites that relied on OVH are still down.
Among the companies hit: Centre Pompidou, SeeMy, Virtualcom Interactive and Next Radio TV.
MAM-e.it has also been in this serious situation for several weeks. We continue to insist with the company by emailing the support services, opening online ticket and phone calls, but the answer we always got was to “wait for further communication from the parent company”.
It’s inconceivable that OVH, a well-known hosting and web infrastructure company, to the requests of its customers, provides pre-established answers without providing any updates on the specific case with contracts in question of hundreds of millions of euros.
OVH down: The unthinkable behavior of an arrogant like leader Octave Klaba
OVH instead of writing and apologizing to customers for the incident, has proved to be unprofessional and even less correct. It didn’t providing any kind of direct communication to its customers as evidence of the total inefficiency in the management of this serious situation.
The French company attributes what happened to a cause of “force majeure“, in which the case of fire falls. As a result, it would have been the responsibility of the individual customer to periodically back up their online data. However, OVH should provide its customers with the snapshots of the backed up data as soon as possible, allowing companies to act on the raw material as well.
A provider we thought was great, but great only in its arrogance
It’s obvious that, continuing this unthinkable and unpredictable situation, we can’t help but take measures to protect our own existence. Our existence is affected in an extremely heavy way by the incident, which has damaged one of the most important promoters on the web of the fashion world.
The inactivity of our site for almost a month has brought us serious damage and irrecoverable consequences in our reputation, not only on a personal level but towards the entire public that uses, on a daily basis, our platform for academic and professional reasons.
