Ralph and Russo cancel SS21 couture show. The brand officially announced on Thursday that the show is not happening this year but they will be back. The designers Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo explained that this year has been a tough year, due to both international and local lockdowns and the restriction on travels. But the designers assured that they will return this July hoping that the pandemic will be more under control. Also with the vaccination that already started in many countries.
In fact, Paris fashion week for men’s and couture will proceed but brands will not be able to invite guests for this season’s show since in France it is forbidden to have big gatherings. Also, the British Fashion Council declared that the London Fashion Week will be only digital. The collections will be presented on the website on the London Fashion Week website. High end brands rely on fashion shows as a mean to market their brand but have not been able to do it this year, since the coronavirus outbreak. Some labels such as Burberry, Prada and many others upscale brands have opted for digital shows but smaller fashion houses were not able to invest in such productions.
Ralph and Russo latest collaborations
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Ralph and Russo has been expanding its collection. A one year long partnership for a swimwear line with La Perla will be launched in April 2021. The new collection will be available to buy on the online platform and selected flagship stores of both brands. Furthermore, a collaboration with Linda Farrow for the creation of a capsule eyewear collection launched in November 2020. The label also plans to enter the world of technology. A new collaboration with Photo Lens, a smart-glasses enterprise is expected to design the new spring 2021 ready to wear collection using customized AR headsets.
