EssilorLuxottica and Moncler announced the signing of an exclusive licensing agreement

On November 22nd, EssilorLuxottica and Moncler announced the two brands had signed an exclusive licensing deal that covers the creation, manufacturing, and international distribution of Moncler eyewear.

From January 2024, starts the agreement of an exclusive licensing between EssilorLuxottica and Moncler

The contract will be in force from January 2024 to December 2028, with a predetermined five-year extension option. Fall-Winter 2024 will be the first Moncler Lunettes collection made with EssilorLuxottica, and it will go on sale in September of that same year.

The announcement coincides with a slowdown in the luxury market following a pandemic boom. Moncler revealed last month that their topline growth had slowed down from 24% in the first half of the year to 7% in the third. According to consulting firm Bain, growth in the luxury market is anticipated to further slow down in 2024.

With a variety of frames appropriate for both city and mountain living, the collaboration between EssilorLuxottica and Moncler will further enhance the Ruffini´s brand collections, which are renowned for their flawless fusion of functionality and modern aesthetics. This is made possible by EssilorLuxottica’s consolidated experience and ongoing innovation.

The brand-new Moncler Lunettes eyewear will be offered at select opticians across the globe, as well as at Moncler boutiques, moncler.com, and EssilorLuxottica stores.

Remo Ruffini, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Moncler S.p.A., about EssilorLuxottica and Moncler partnership:

“With the introduction of the new Moncler Lunettes collections, Moncler’s style will seamlessly merge with EssilorLuxottica’s know-how in eyewear, delivering a product at the forefront of design, innovation, and quality.”

Francesco Milleri, Chairman and CEO at EssilorLuxottica, added:

“We have long admired Moncler as a brand that shares our equal passion for innovation and style, not to mention our ‘born in the mountains’ heritage. Our teams are thrilled to embark on this journey to design and develop a unique eyewear collection that truly reflects the special Moncler brand.”

About Moncler

The name Moncler derives from the very name of the mountain village Monestier-de-Clermont, which is close to Grenoble. This is where René Ramillon and Andrè Vincent established the company in 1952. It went on to manufacture its famous down jacket, designing clothes that were intended to shield workers wearing them over their overalls from the most extreme weather conditions. These clothes were tested on numerous expeditions.

The secret to Moncler’s success is its distinct and enduring brand strategy, which also rests on the company’s capacity to create cutting-edge goods that are firmly “anchored” in the brand’s past. Commencing in 2003 with Remo Ruffini’s acquisition of the Group, the journey has consistently been consistent and unwavering. Moncler defines “luxury” using the following criteria: heritage, originality, quality, creativity, and innovation.
