Sevdaliza in Iris Van Herpen S/S 2021 Haute Couture

Sevdaliza in Iris Van Herpen S/S 2021 Haute Couture collection

Sevdaliza in Iris Van Herpen S/S 2021 Haute Couture collection, the Dutch Iranian singer Sevda Alizadeh debuts the runway star of Iris van Herpen’s latest Haute Couture collection, entitled “Roots of Rebirth”. She showed her magnetic presence as vividly and memorably to the catwalk as she does to the recording studio. Sevdaliza was born in Tehran, Iran and at the age of five, her family moved and settled to the Netherlands. During her early childhood days she used to write songs lyrics, followed her melodic gifts to become as self-taught singer and the founder of her own record label “Twisted Elegance”. The singer’s modern remix stirs influences of avant-pop and alternative R&B into music that is equal parts lulling and disquieting.

Sevdaliza Personal Style

Appearing like an ethereal siren, the singer is also known for her innovative album Shabrang translated as “night colour” in Persian depicts a black-eyed self-portrait as a symbol of the physical and emotional nature of her personal experience. After getting inspired from her evident nature, Iris Van Herpen asked Sevdaliza to walk for her show where wore an organza silk maroon-dyed dress.

In addition to it, this complicated red gown was created with hand pleats; “by twisting the roots to entangle the body symmetrically, draped predominantly to sprout outwards in translucency, brilliantly framing the face”. The gills seen were 3D embroidered onto expandable lace and laser cut to reveal the skin beneath. She walked like a surreal on her own song “Bluecid” which was playing in the background. Alizadeh has appeared for many shows in the past like Y/Project runway, and also has collaborated with Marine Serre.

Sevdaliza Relation and Moments with Van Herpen

Alizadeh explained that her moment on Van Herpen’s runway felt especially right as the two share a relationship in pushing boundaries in their work. They both met through a mutual friend a few years ago. “I really love the fact that she just brings in all of these elements from nature to alchemy to electromagnetic elements. She always try to combines architecture with art, science, and industrial design” that’s what makes her more connected to Herpen. She deep dives into her own and the collective psyche, a quest for authenticity is at the core of her spiritual expression, weaving her personal story with philosophical messages and universal truths.
