CFDA AWARDS 2022, THE COUNCIL OF FASHION DESIGNERS OF AMERICA, INC. HELD ITS ANNUAL AWARDS CEREMONY ON THE NIGHT OF 7TH NOVEMBER IN STAR-STUDDED GLAMOUR.
CFDA Awards 2022. It is part of a not-for-profit trade association founded by Eleanor Lambert in 1962. The CFDA has a membership of more than 450 of America’s foremost womenswear, menswear, jewellery, and accessory designers. They held their annual awards ceremony, in the most star-studded glamour with all the big names of the industry in attendance.
WHO ARE THE WINNERS OF 2022?
While there were many nominations, We saw some really interesting names emerge as winners this year. Notably among all awards, a special Director’s tribute award was given out to Virgil Abloh in remembrance and respect for his footprints left in this industry.
Positive Social Influence – The House of Slay

American Emerging Designer – Elena Velez
An American fashion designer and artist, known for her non-traditional synthesis of metalsmith and high fashion.
Lifetime Achievement – Richard Stark (Chrome hearts)
Chrome Hearts, is one of the leading luxury brands to have a unique strategy compared to today’s e-commerce and social media obsessed style. Only offer a select few fragrances online and all other main products are only available in one of their 34 physical retail outlets, around the world.
American Menswear – Emily Adams Bode (Bode)

Trevor Noah and Menswear Designer of the Year Emily Adams BodeEmily Adams Bode is a menswear designer behind her eponymous brand Bode. First launched in 2016, but in 2018 Bode debuted and became the first female designer to show up at New York Men’s Week with a presentation.
American Womenswear – Catherine Holstein (Khaite)

Christina Ricci and Womenswear Designer of the Year Catherine HolsteinCatherine Holstein is a designer and the founder and creative director of the New York womenswear label Khaite. She launched the brand in 2016, also a Hollywood favourite, seen on the likes of Katie Holmes, Hailey Bieber, Kaia Gerber, and Dakota Johnson.
American Accessories Designer – Raul Lopez (Luar)
Raul Lopez, the designer and founder behind LUAR’s namesake fashion brand (Raul spelled backward). the fashion label Lopez founded in 2017, is an amalgam of influences, from the queens he met as a teenager. High-wattage pop stars like Dua Lipa, J Balvin, and Shawn Mendes are wearing his clothes. And stores like Nordstrom and Ssense are clamoring to stock his popular Ana bag
Some of the other names include Lenny Kravitz for the Fashion Icon Award. Kim Kardashian, Emma Grede, and Jens Grede of Skims for the special Amazon Innovation Award.
