What the audience wore to glam at La Prima della Scala 2023
On 7 December, everything led us to the La Prima della Scala opening. The season officially started with Giuseppe Verdi’s Don Carlo, where it was possible to see the spectators in their finest clothes.

Giuseppe Verdi’s Don Carlo, conducted by Maestro Riccardo Chailly and directed by Lluís Pasqual, is being staged at La Prima della Scala after a 15-year hiatus. The greatest social event in the fashion capital is this four-act drama, which lasts nearly four hours. International political dignitaries and celebrities from the entertainment industry are abundant this year as well, and they have all agreed—at least once—to adhere to the evening’s strict and sophisticated dress code.
Embroidered velvets, shimmering textures, sophisticated geometric patterns, incomparable tuxedos. All the most beautiful outfits seen at the premiere of La Scala 2023, from the much applauded life senator Liliana Segre to the splendid companion of the mayor of Milan Chiara Bazoli.
While last year’s star was Giorgia Meloni in a deep blue dress, this year black and the glitter of rhinestones won. Just like the combination of dark and baroque gold prevalent in Giuseppe Verdi’s Don Carlo.
To conclude, La Prima della Scala saw great outfits that resembled each other through the choice of the colour black, with Giorgo Armani being one of the most sought-after designers.
