New York Fashion Week 2024 : Highlights From The New Fall/Winter Collections
The current spotlight it’s the New York Fashion Week, a twice-yearly occasion that features the newest runway displays, presentations, and events for the following seasons. The NYFW did not let down during its Fall/Winter 2024 catwalks, which included some of the biggest names in entertainment and fashion. Here are some of the highlights that we’d like to talk about from the globally-lauded fashion week.
Collina Strada
When designer-painter Karolina Liebers strolled the Collina Strada show on Friday with her five-month-old daughter Florence nestled on her hip, social media let out a collective “aww.” When a baby bump was revealed in all its splendor, there was another happy gasp; head designer Hillary Taymour conveyed a campy and feminine persuasion through thirty-six looks.
Helmut Lang
This streetwear-focused design house made a case for practicality in fashion by showcasing a range of ages and creating ensembles that can be disassembled and worn as separate pieces repeatedly. Designer Peter Do improved their street-ready staples for fall 2024 in his second collection by adding whimsical details and producing separates that speak to real people.
Sonam A Kapoor
Our very own original fashion girlie hasn’t attended a significant fashion event in a while. Additionally, Sonam made a comeback worthy of going viral, co-starring with well-known Thai BL stars Phuwin Tangsakyuen and Naravit Lertratkosum on the fashion week evening.
Julia Fox
Julia Fox’s opulent white robes caused a spike in internet search traffic when she arrived at Willy Chavarria’s presentation, which was set up in an old warehouse.
Celebrities who claim front row seats at fashion weeks will be expected to serve hard because Julia, a New York-based actress, has been the most misbehaving muse in the fashion industry—in all the right ways. Julia will be featured in a show featuring Willy’s exploration of radical American style.
Kim Shui
Kim Shui, whose work honors every aspect of her multicultural identity, was born in the United States and raised in Italy. She has never been able to respond to the question, “So, where are you from?” The designer paid tribute to the Chinese zodiac’s year of the dragon for her NYFW presentation.
Tommy Hifliger
Using his trademark red, white, and blue hues, Tommy Hilfiger transformed the iconic Oyster Bar at Grand Central Station in New York to present a collection that was a love letter to the city.
Imagine a laid-back American sportswear take on varsity jackets, camel coats, tweeds, and polo dresses—as well as 90s preppy staples like blazers and chinos.
Proenza Schouler
Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez at Proenza Schouler demonstrated to us that understated elegance is here to stay with a collection that is sure to become a mainstay in any stylish woman’s closet for many years to come. There were flowing gowns, fitted coats and suits, and sophisticated knits in tones of grey, white, and black with sporadic bursts of peach and red.
Khaite
According to the show notes, Catherine Holstein of Khaite drew inspiration for her most recent collection, “who we were, are, and become,” from memory and heritage. Holstein’s avant-garde twist was applied to reworked silhouettes; the boxy, cropped leather jacket stood out as one of the highlights, and fabrics took center stage, draping themselves around the models’ bodies (the idea of “the dilapidation of a fallen drape” served as inspiration throughout).
